Following another piss-poor performance by Arsenal, manager Arsene Wenger has hit back at his critics. "For the past couple of years the so-called experts have been saying that Arsenal will win nothing until I go and buy another striker, a dominant midfielder and an experienced defender’ said the wrinkly-faced Frenchman".

Wenger admitted that his original plan to prove his detractors wrong by winning something had failed, so he then came up with another idea to prove his point. "I decided to do exactly as they told me to – I bought a striker, a dominant midfielder and an experienced defender. I followed their plan and we’re now worse than ever, which shows what they know!"

One of Wenger’s fiercest critics has, ironically, been Wenger’s inspiration. Graham Taylor memorably silenced critics who suggested that Geoff Thomas was the worst ever England player by picking Carlton Palmer for the next game.
